Why TMPHYSIO
Not all manual therapy is created equal
There is a difference between a standard manual-therapy prescription and treatment at international OMPT level. We work to the curricula of the three leading global associations – the same standard used in the Bundesliga, Premier League and at the Olympics.
IFOMPT
International Federation of Orthopaedic Manipulative Physical Therapists – the highest internationally recognised qualification standard in manual therapy (OMPT).
Mulligan (Mobilisation with Movement)
The Mulligan concept by Brian Mulligan – Mobilisation with Movement (MWM) is a globally recognised, clinically proven method for pain-free joint mobilisation.
DVMT
German Association for Manual Therapy – implements the German quality standards for certified manual therapists at IFOMPT level.
Complaints & indications
Recognise yourself here?
These are the conditions we treat successfully every day with manual therapy at IFOMPT standard:
Evidence · IFOMPT · DVMT · IMTA
Indication focus areas backed by research
We follow the international curricula of IFOMPT (ifompt.org), the quality standards of DVMT (dvmt.org) and the Mulligan concept (Mobilisation with Movement). Every indication follows an evidence-based, reproducible assessment and treatment pathway.
Back & neck pain
Cervical · Thoracic · Lumbar · Disc · Sciatica
International guidelines (NICE, Lancet Low Back Pain Series 2018) recommend manual therapy as first-line treatment for acute and chronic back and neck pain. IFOMPT-certified OMT delivers clinically relevant pain reduction and functional improvement in meta-analyses (Coulter et al. 2018, Spine Journal) – comparable to or better than medication, without the side effects.

Shoulder & arm complaints
Impingement · Frozen Shoulder · Tennis elbow
For subacromial impingement and adhesive capsulitis, RCTs (Page et al., Cochrane 2014) show significant effects of manual therapy on mobility and pain. DVMT standards combine targeted joint mobilisation with neurodynamic techniques and active rehab training – an evidence-based concept internationally established by Mulligan (Mobilisation with Movement).

Hip, knee & ankle
Osteoarthritis · Meniscus · Ligament injuries
For knee and hip osteoarthritis, the OARSI 2019 guideline recommends manual therapy as the first choice before surgical measures. Studies (Deyle et al., Annals of Internal Medicine 2020) show effects comparable to intra-articular cortisone injections over 12 months – without cartilage damage. Post-op (ACL, meniscus, joint replacement), OMT measurably accelerates functional recovery.

Headache & dizziness
Cervicogenic · Migraine · BPPV
Cervicogenic headache and dizziness are a core indication of OMT. Jull et al. (Spine 2002) and Reid et al. (Manual Therapy 2014) show sustained symptom reduction via targeted cervical mobilisation – a treatment standard firmly anchored in the IFOMPT curriculum and DVMT training.

Your treatment path
In 3 steps to a lasting solution
01
Assessment & diagnostics
60 minutes for self-pay/private patients: whole-body analysis, posture and movement examination to IFOMPT standard. We find the cause – not just the symptom. Statutory patients receive a catalogue-compliant assessment (15 minutes) – the extended 60-minute version can be booked as a self-pay add-on before your prescription series.
02
Manual treatment
Targeted joint mobilisation, myofascial and neurodynamic techniques following Mulligan (Mobilisation with Movement).
03
Active stabilisation
Individual training programme to lock in the new mobility – sustainable instead of short-term relief.
Add-on for statutory patients
Add extended assessment (60 min)
The 60-minute initial assessment is not included in statutory health insurance benefits. You can add it once as a self-pay service before your prescription series – structured history taking, functional tests and an individual treatment plan as the foundation for all following manual-therapy sessions.
